What is votas picudas?

Votas picudas is a species of cactus that is native to Mexico. It belongs to the Cactaceae family and is also commonly known as the "spiny cactus" or "old man cactus." This plant grows in a columnar shape, with long, thin stems up to 20 feet in height and 8 inches in diameter. It has a grey-greenish hue and is covered in numerous spines that can grow up to 4 inches in length.

Votas picudas blooms from the late spring through the summer, producing small, fragrant, yellowish-white flowers that grow in clusters at the tips of its stems. It typically grows in arid and rocky environments, such as desert hillsides, canyons, and along roadways. In its native habitat, this cactus is often used as a natural barrier to prevent soil erosion.

Due to its striking appearance, votas picudas has become a popular ornamental plant in many parts of the world. However, it is known to be a slow-growing species, taking several years to reach its full height and size. Additionally, its spines can be sharp and can cause injury if not handled carefully.
